Panathinaikos: Euroleague fines Ataman for “disrespecting the referees”

Last Friday night (24/10) o Panathinaikos AKTOR defeated with the heavy 92-75 by Virtus in Bologna for the 6th matchday of the EuroLeague, with the “greens” seeing an end to the winning streak of three games they ran in the institution.

This afternoon, the organizing authority announced that the coach of the “clover”, Ergin Ataman, was fined 8,000 euros for his behavior in the game against the Italians.

As noted in the announcement, the said fine was imposed on the Turkish technician for acts that constitute disrespect to the referees.

The announcement in detail:



“Mr. Ergin Ataman, coach of Panathinaikos AKTOR, was fined 8,000 euros for actions that constitute disrespect to the referees during the game Virtus Bologna – Panathinaikos, according to article 27.2.b) of the Disciplinary Code of Euroleague Basketball.

Mr. Odette Katas, coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv, was fined 5,000 euros for statements regarding the refereeing during the Maccabi – Olympiacos match, according to article 24.2.c) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.

Mr. Ofer Yanai, president of Hapoel Tel Aviv, was fined 5,000 euros for statements on social media that express a lack of respect for another person, according to article 24.2.b) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.
