The president of Abiplast (Brazilian Association of the Plastic Industry), José Ricardo Roriz, opponent of Josué Gomes in the election for the presidency of Fiesp last year, joined the debate on the role of the federation of industries in the dissemination of the pro-democracy manifesto, which has created discord in the sector.
Roriz made an analogy between the manifestos calling for democracy in the country and the elections of Fiesp and Ciesp, whose presidency he also contested in 2021, but lost to Rafael Cervone Netto.
Questioned by SA Panel on the internal debate regarding the manifesto, the president of Abiplast, who did not subscribe, said he prefers to be involved in issues that increase the competitiveness of the industry.
He also said that if Fiesp and Ciesp want to defend Brazilian democracy, they should not use the entities’ electoral process as a model. “[O sistema das entidades] it’s not participatory, it doesn’t give the candidates the same opportunities, it doesn’t have debates and it’s centralized in the hands of a few”, he says.
Roriz’s speech rescues the complaints he made in 2021, complaining that his competitor, Cervone, refused to hold debates before the election of Ciesp. In the case of the dispute for the presidency of Fiesp, Roriz tried to register his ticket, but said that the deadline given by the entity was too short to collect enough signatures.
