The attempted cyber attack against ANP (National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels) systems makes it impossible, for the second consecutive week, to publish the fuel price survey in the country.
The address where the data is updated remained offline throughout this Friday (12). The information is collected at gas stations throughout Brazil.
On non-holiday weeks, the price survey is usually released around 6 pm on Fridays. The publication did not take place last week and will not return this Friday, according to a note released by the ANP.
“The ANP informs that the Price Survey System remains unavailable, as well as other systems of the agency and, therefore, this week’s fuel price data will not be published today (12/8)”, says the text.
According to the agency, the attempted attack took place on Thursday of last week (4). The ANP claims that the systems were taken offline “for risk assessment to the agency’s cybersecurity.”
The agency did not indicate when the release of the weekly survey will resume. The agency said it is “taking all steps to get its systems back as soon as possible” and that the work is being done judiciously, so that the resumption takes place safely.
With the delay, data is only available until the last week of July. At the time, the average price of gasoline dropped another 2.5% at Brazilian stations, reaching R$ 5.74 per liter.
It was the fifth consecutive week of decline, reflecting measures such as the reduction of ICMS (state tax) rates on fuel.
In the second half of July, Petrobras announced two consecutive drops in the price of gasoline at refineries.
In August, the state-owned company also confirmed two cuts in the price of diesel at its refineries. Truck fuel was still above R$ 7 per liter at stations at the end of July, according to the ANP.
