The Minister of Citizenship, João Roma, said this Thursday (2) that the payment of the Auxílio Brasil in the amount of R$ 400 should be made this month.
In a statement at the Palácio do Planalto, Rome said that beneficiaries can still receive payment retroactive to the month of November.
Auxílio Brasil was created by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to replace Bolsa Família, which made average payments of R$190.
“Still in December, we intend to clear the queue, going from 14.7 million to 17 million beneficiaries [famílias]”, said Rome.
The Senate approved this Thursday (2) the PEC (proposed amendment to the Constitution) of the Precatório, a mechanism to make room in the budget and unlock the payment of aid.
“The deadlines are tight, they are beyond what we expected, but they won’t be an obstacle for us to fulfill our mission,” said Roma.
The payment of the aid is Bolsonaro’s main bet for the Planalto re-election campaign in 2022.
The PEC defaults on debts of the Union recognized by the Justice. As there was a change in the text in the Senate, the proposal needs to be processed again in the Chamber of Deputies.
In order to increase expenses for next year by around R$ 106 billion, the PEC has two pillars. One measure allows for a dribble in the spending ceiling, retroactively recalculating that limit. The other measure creates a maximum value for the payment of court orders – debts that do not appear on this list will be postponed and paid off in later years.
