The Itaipu plant will make an extra contribution to reducing the electricity bill this year. Aneel (National Electric Energy Agency) approved at the board meeting held on Tuesday (16) the transfer of R$ 947.8 million for the purpose of reducing the energy tariff.
Ten distributors will benefit from an average reduction of two percentage points.
For distributors that have already had their readjustments authorized this year and for the group that has readjustments in August, the transfer of funds will take place within ten days, counting from the publication of the resolution. In the case of distributors that have not yet gone through the tariff process, the transfer will take place on the date of the readjustment.
The concessionaires RGE, Energisa Minas Gerais; Enel Sao Paulo; Energisa Sul Sudeste, Celesc, Elektro and DCELT.
Enel Goiás, CPFL Piratininga and DMED will have the transfers when the tariff is readjusted in October.
The funds for the rebate come from the balance of Itaipu’s commercialization account and financial surpluses. With the privatization of Eletrobras, the management of this accounting is now in charge of EMBPar (Empresa Brasileira de Participações em Energia Nuclear e Binacional).
Director Giácomo Bassi, rapporteur of the process, highlighted that it was reasonable to elect a group to receive the transfer, considering the claims of each company, instead of distributing it to the entire market.
“The value is not that big, less than R$ 1 billion, so cents would be given if everyone received it, and the alternative made the use of this resource more efficient”, said Bassi.
