Opening of formal vacancies in July disappoints
The country recorded a net balance of 218,902 formal job vacancies opened in July, according to data from Caged, from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
There were 1.887 million admissions and 1.668 million dismissals in the period.
In numbers: the result came well below the median of analysts surveyed by Reuters, who projected the creation of 260 thousand jobs.
- As a result, the stock of formal jobs in the country reached 42.2 million, the highest for the month in the series with adjustments that started in 2010.
- Year-to-date, the country registers 1.561 million openings, a decrease compared to the 1.785 million jobs created in the same period in 2021.
What explains: The resumption of the service sector after the restrictions on circulation caused by the pandemic continues to set the pace for the recovery of the Brazilian labor market.
- In July, there was a positive balance in all sectors, but vacancies in services led, with the opening of 81,873 posts.
Yes but… Despite the positive data from Caged and Pnad (which considers the informal ones) about the Brazilian labor market, about 2.9 million of workers have been unemployed for more than two years.
- This share is equivalent to about a third of the total number of people currently looking for a job in the country, according to Pnad data released earlier this month.
‘fake coffee’
After the fake milk and the milk mixture pretending to be condensed milk, now a new product that simulates the original has caught attention on the networks and has been called “cafake”, a combination of coffee and fake (fake, in English).
Understand: the product of the Pingo Preto brand has as ingredients traditional roasted and ground coffee, coffee pulp and flavoring. Its 500-gram package was sold on Amazon for R$14.99 and offered as “Traditional Pingo Sabor Café”.
- After contacting Sheet, Amazon began to offer the product as “Pó parapreparo de Sabor Café Tradicional Pingo Preto”. Grupo Jurerê, owner of the Pingo Preto brand, says that the product is a compound for preparing drinks regulated by Anvisa.
- The Procon of Santa Catarina stated that the advertisement has clear and precise information for the consumer. The one from São Paulo informed that it will notify the Jurerê Group to provide clarifications.
What explains: The Sheet has already shown how food inflation – which, unlike the general index, remains persistent – has led manufacturers to adopt smaller packaging or products with lower nutritional value so as not to have to raise prices.
- The case of coffee is no different. The product accumulates high 71.29% in the last 12 months in supermarkets in São Paulo, according to Procon-SP.
25 years of Netflix
Netflix, which started with DVD rentals and surpassed the giant Blockbuster, reached its 25th birthday this Monday (29) with a face like cable TV and seeing its hegemony fall behind.
The story: the company founded on August 29, 1997 in the USA operated with a DVD rental model by mail and had as a great differential for the market leader Blockbuster the absence of collection of fines.
- Despite reaching 300,000 subscribers in 2000, the loss for the year was US$ 57 million.
- With the negative result and the bursting of the DotCom bubble, which deteriorated the shares of tech companies, the CEO of Netflix offered the company to Blockbuster, which did not want to do business.
- Time passed, VHS “died” and Blockbuster now has only one store, in the state of Oregon – which serves as a backdrop for a comedy series produced by Netflix, yet to be released.
Boom in the pandemic: the streaming model arrived at Netflix in 2007, in the USA, but its peak came during the pandemic crisis, when it reached a record of 221.8 million subscribers.
- The company’s market value reached US$ 300 billion in November 2021, but then came relief from the health crisis and the hangover of falling subscribers, rising costs and plunging shares.
Rivals grow: the first blow to the papers came in January of this year, when the company recorded numbers below projections. But the sharpest drop was in April, when it announced that it lost subscribers for the first time since 2011.
- In the second quarter of this year, Disney’s streaming suite (Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+) surpassed Netflix in number of subscribers for the first time in history, but also announced that it will launch an advertising plan.
