Petrobras reduces the price of cooking gas by 4.7%

Petrobras announced this Monday (12) a reduction for distributors of 4.7% in the average price of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), the cooking gas sold in cylinders. The low goes into effect this Tuesday (13).

With the cut, the price for distributors will go from R$ 4.23 per kilo to R$ 4.03 per kilo, a drop of R$ 0.20. Thus, the average value of a 13 kilo cylinder will drop from R$ 2.60 — from R$ 54.94 to R$ 52.34.

“This reduction follows the evolution of reference prices and is consistent with Petrobras’ pricing practice, which seeks to balance its prices with the market, but without passing on to domestic prices the conjunctural volatility of quotations and the exchange rate. “, the state-owned company said in a statement.

The last refinery slump had come into effect on April 9 this year. At the time, the average price of a 13-kilogram cylinder dropped from R$58.21 to R$54.94, according to Petrobras.

On the eve of the elections, the company began to announce cuts in fuel prices by dropper. Survey of the OSP (Observatório Social do Petróleo), at the request of the Sheetshowed that Petrobras adopted different pricing strategies in times of high and low international oil prices in 2022.
