President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) participated in yet another motorcycle rider without a helmet this Saturday (17), when campaigning in cities in Pernambuco, ending with a speech in which he said he will win the presidential election in the first round.
Bolsonaro started motorcycle racing in Santa Cruz do Capibaribe and passed through Toritama before arriving in Caruaru. The distance between the cities is 42 kilometers.
Thus, he repeated what he had done before, as in the acts of the 7th of September, when he was on a motorcycle for 13 kilometers without a helmet, which constitutes a very serious infraction according to the Brazilian Traffic Code.
Upon arriving at the platform set up for the act in Caruaru, the president said he will be victorious in the first round in this year’s election, contrary to what the polls show.
A survey carried out by Datafolha between last Tuesday (13) and Thursday (15) showed that former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) leads the electoral race with 45% of voting intentions, a 12-point advantage over compared to Bolsonaro, who has 33% and is seeking re-election.
“And a detail, for President of the Republic we will win in the first round. We will show that we don’t want the scandals we had a little while ago, in the past,” said Bolsonaro, shortly after asking for votes for Pernambuco candidates.
In a nine-minute speech, the president also said that the price of gasoline had dropped and that he would invest resources in Brazil, “not in Cuba or Venezuela.”
Bolsonaro also said that he will keep Auxílio Brasil “up there” in a possible second government. The statement was made at a time when the president was talking about government spending on the Covid-19 pandemic.
“In 2020 we spent the equivalent of 15 years of Bolsa Família. Speaking of Bolsa Família, we serve the most needy. Back then, Bolsa Família started paying R$ 80 per month to the family and if the family, the head, If he got a job, he would lose the Bolsa Família. In our government, we ended the Bolsa Família and created Auxílio Brasil, and the amount became at least R$ 600. Brazil Aid.”
In another part of the speech, the president stated that the country is overcoming the crisis, with fuel prices falling, as well as unemployment. “Gasoline down there, Auxílio Brasil up there.”
Bolsonaro left the city to travel to Garanhuns, in the countryside of Pernambuco, the birthplace of former President Lula and one of the strongholds of Lulismo in the state.
The president will then go to London to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
“In a little while I’m going to London to participate in the farewell, in the last acts, of Queen Elizabeth II. Contact with heads of state from all over the world”, he said.
At the UN General Assembly (United Nations), which should arrive on Monday (19), the president’s extra agenda should be marked by bilateral meetings with presidents of countries that together account for only 0.75% of exports. Brazilians.
