Panel SA: After failure in road blockade, truck leader laments lack of support

by

Faced with the failure of the strike that the truck drivers had been threatening this Monday (1st), José Roberto Stringasci, president of ANTB (National Transport Association of Brazil), lamented the lack of support from the population.

For him, the agenda of the category that asks for a change in Petrobras’ pricing policy is a problem for the entire country.

“We had the support of the population at the points, but the population doesn’t come. The truck driver can’t take it anymore. We hope this week unfolds, and that the population starts to become aware because there will be more fuel adjustments”, says Stringasci.

Court decisions filed by the Union prohibited the blocking of federal highways by truck drivers.

Plínio Dias, president of the CNTRC (Council for road freight transport), says he still hopes that drivers will remain at home in an attempt to achieve freight transport.

“We could go out on the track, but we don’t want that, we want respect for the category. We will continue to guide them to stay at home and at the stopping points”, says Dias.

The truckers’ representatives say they are trying to overturn the court decisions that prevent the stoppages. Throughout the day, federal highways and strategic ports for the country’s logistics operated without interruption, according to a survey by the PRF (Federal Highway Police) released by the Ministry of Infrastructure.
