The relevant decision determines the spaces that can be granted without compensation and by ownership to the neighboring municipalities, specifically to the municipalities of Alimos, Glyfada and Hellinikon-Argyroupoli.

The total area reaches 235 acres and 50 properties of multiple future uses (for administration services, welfare, culture, sports, pre-school and school education, as well as for urban infrastructure), attributed to the neighboring municipalities of the Hellenic-Agios Kosmas Metropolitan Pole, with a ministerial decision signed today at the Ministry of Finance.

The relevant decision determines the spaces that can be granted free of charge and by ownership to the neighboring municipalities and specifically to the municipalities Alimos, Glyfada and Ellinikou-Argyroupoli.

In his statement, the Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras during the signing of the ministerial decision on the allocation of public benefit spaces and spaces of social reciprocity that fall within the Metropolitan Pole of Hellinikon – Agios Kosmas, he pointed out that today is a particularly important day for the residents of the neighboring municipalities of the Metropolitan Pole of Hellinikon – Agios Kosmas.

“It is an important day for the government, for the local government of the neighboring municipalities, for the investment in Elliniko. The ministerial decision is signed on the distribution of public benefit spaces and spaces of social reciprocity that fall under the Metropolitan Pole, which determines the spaces in question that can be granted without compensation and by ownership by the Greek State to the neighboring municipalities, that is to say the municipalities of Alimos, Glyfada and Elliniko – Argyroupoli.

In the municipalities that are affected and benefit from the investment. A large, chronic problem of space utilization in the Metropolitan Pole of Hellinikon – Agios Kosmas, to the mutual benefit of the local communities, is being resolved. A problem that seemed unsolvable, and created – many times – intense confrontations at the local level, finds a solution”, said the minister.

As the minister pointed out, the granting of the concession, according to the above provision, takes place, today, in two stages:

  • During the first stage, with a framework decision of the Ministry of Finance and its political leadership, the spaces that are able to be granted – as above – are distributed among the aforementioned municipalities. During the preparation and drawing up of the said decision, the individual requests and specificities of the municipalities concerned were also taken into account, which, recently and jointly, were agreed upon.

Some of them have public utility characteristics of a supra-local, and not only municipal scope.

  • During the second stage, based on the above distribution decision, the competent general director of Public Property and Public Benefit Properties of the general secretariat of Tax Policy and Public Property of the Ministry of Finance issues the decision to grant each public benefit space or social reciprocity space, to each one of the municipalities that submitted related requests.

Today, both stages are completed, as Mr. Staikouras said, and a total area of 235 acres and 50 properties of multiple future uses, for administration services, welfare, culture, sports, pre-school and school education, as well as urban infrastructure, are assigned.

With the transcription of each concession decision and its registration in the competent mortgage registry and land registry office, respectively, the concession process is completed and each municipality can freely use, in the context of the common good, the granted spaces for the needs of the local community, said the minister .

Mr. Staikouras thanked my colleagues for the systematic work of the previous months, in order to advance, as a whole, the work of Ellinikos, his fellow MPs inside and outside the government, MPs of the Southern Sector, for the support, inside and outside parliament, of the entire project as well as the executives of Lamda Development for their cooperation, as well as the mayors of the region, for the real willingness to solve the problem of the distribution of public spaces.

The signing of the Ministerial Decision took place at a special event, attended by the mayors of Alimos, Mr. Andreas Kondylis, Mr. Giorgos Papanikolaou, of Glyfada, and Mr. Yiannis Constantatos, of Ellinikou-Argyroupoli, in the presence of the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, the Deputy Minister of Finance, etc. .
