by

The price of gasoline dropped another 1.4% at Brazilian stations this week, informed the ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels) this Friday (30th). According to the agency, the product was sold, on average, at R$ 4.81, the lowest value since June 2020.

It was the 14th consecutive week of decline, a reflection of federal and state tax cuts at the end of June and reductions promoted by Petrobras in sales prices by its refineries. Since the end of June, the accumulated drop is 35%.

The pace of decline has been slowing, as Petrobras has not changed refinery prices since the beginning of the month and the effects of the tax cut have already reached the pumps. The price of anhydrous ethanol, mixed with gasoline sold at gas stations, had a sharp decline at the beginning of the month, helping to bring down gasoline.

The cheapest gasoline in the country was found by the ANP in São Paulo, at R$ 4.15 per liter. The most expensive was also found in São Paulo, at R$6.99. This week, 21 Brazilian states had an average price of gasoline below R$5. The lowest of them is Amapá, with R$4.49.

The price of diesel, on the other hand, dropped 2.23% this week, still reflecting the 5.8% reduction in the refinery price promoted by Petrobras on the 20th. According to the ANP, the liter of fuel came out, on average, at R $6.56, the lowest since March, in inflation-adjusted amounts.

Since the tax cuts, the cumulative drop in the price of diesel is 13.3%. The product was less impacted by the measure because it already had zero federal taxes and a rate lower than the ceiling established by law in most states.

According to the ANP, the price of hydrous ethanol was R$3.37 per liter this week, down 1.2% from the previous week.

The gas cylinder, which had gone up after the last cut promoted by Petrobras at the refineries, finally had transfers, albeit small. This week, the product was sold at R$ 112.13 per liter, down 1% compared to two weeks ago.

The ANP had not disclosed the price of this fuel in the last week, claiming the end of the contract with the company that collects the data. The new company only started work this week, but it provided the agency with data from the previous week on gasoline, diesel, ethanol and CNG (Vehicle Natural Gas).

Petrobras has been announcing price cuts almost weekly to generate positive facts for the campaign for the reelection of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). This week, however, with the rise in the dollar, there was no room to reduce more popular fuels.

In the last two days, according to data from Abicom (Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers), the average price of gasoline and diesel in Brazilian refineries is below international prices.

At the beginning of this Friday’s trading session, gasoline had a lag of R$ 0.02 per liter. In the case of diesel, the lag was R$ 0.09 per liter. The values are still small to justify price increases in refineries.

The state-owned company limited itself, then, to announcing a drop of 0.83% in the price of aviation kerosene and of 10.5% in the price of asphalt, products that did not have their readjustments disclosed until the beginning of Caio Paes de Andrade’s administration. in charge of the company.

The strategy of promoting readjustments by dropper is criticized by the opposition and within Petrobras itself as a political use of the company, which has been aligning itself more with the government in the current management, with the acceleration of price cuts, weakening of governance and accommodation of allies of the Plateau in positions.
