The Federal Police in ParanĂ¡ fulfills this Wednesday morning (6) 20 search and seizure warrants against a business group involved in cryptocurrency scams in Brazil and abroad.
The main target of the operation is businessman Francisley Valdevino da Silva, Francis Silva, owner of Rental Coins and a hundred other companies.
Silva became known as Sheik dos Bitcoins and his companies have moved around R$4 billion since 2018. Sheet had not yet been able to contact the businessman’s defense this Wednesday morning. In July, Rental Coins stated who acted in court and extrajudicially in an attempt to close a deal with customers who felt aggrieved after the company’s economic restructuring.
He is suspected of crimes against the popular economy and the national financial system, embezzlement, transnational money laundering and criminal organization. Sasha Meneghel, daughter of Xuxa, and her husband JoĂ£o Figueiredo are among the victims of the businessman.
In the case of Xuxa’s daughter, the model would have met Francis at a service in an evangelical church and the investments in the PF’s target company would have reached more than R$ 1 million. Sasha and her husband collect the amounts in a confidential court case.
The Sheik dos Bitcoins became a partner of Pastor Silas Malafaia in a digital store focused on the evangelical segment. The partnership, however, was dissolved.
According to the PF, the businessman’s group deceived people who believed in large income from the rental of cryptocurrencies.
The investigation began in March this year after Brazil received a request for international cooperation from HSI (Homeland Security Investigations), the US agency responsible for investigating transnational crimes.
According to the PF, the US agency reported that Francis Silva was being investigated in the US “for involvement in a multimillion-dollar money laundering conspiracy from a pyramid scheme investing in crypto assets”.
“In Brazil, it was found that the investigated succeeded in deceiving thousands of victims who believed in the services he had promised through his companies, which consisted of renting crypto assets with monthly payments that could reach up to 20% of the invested capital. “, says the PF.
According to the PF, in addition to renting cryptocurrencies, the group created its own crypto assets that were traded with the promise of monthly returns far above the traditional market average.
These assets, says the Federal Police, had no backing and liquidity in the market and the only objective of marketing was to maintain the fraud committed by the group.
The investigation showed that the amounts diverted from customers were used by the businessman and his group to buy luxury real estate, cars, boats, designer clothes, jewelry and travel.
The PF operation was named Poyais and the searches are carried out in the cities of Curitiba (PR), SĂ£o JosĂ© dos Pinhais (PR), Governador Celso Ramos (SC), Barueri (SP), SĂ£o JosĂ© do Rio Preto (SP) and Angra dos Reis (RJ).
