In the first week of the campaign towards the second round between Lula (PT) and Bolsonaro (PL), representatives from various business sectors still complained about the level of debate in the presidential race and ask for more detail from the campaigns in the coming days.
“Neither of the two candidates presented clear proposals for the next year. Many are still generic”, says Rafael Cervone, president of Ciesp (Center for Industries of the State of São Paulo).
In the case of Lula, Cervone says he considered the wave of economists in series to the PT to be positive. According to him, the movement helps to increase responsibility for the proposals.
In the bar and restaurant sector, there is still curiosity about how an eventual PT government will deal with the labor reform, according to Paulo Solmucci, president of Abrasel (association of restaurants and bars). “We also consider it essential to understand the tax reform proposal, especially if it provides for exemption from the payroll”, he says.
For José Ricardo Roriz, president of Abiplast (plastics industry), in the 1st round, “the two candidates did not speak, or spoke very little about reforms, mainly the tax reform”.
