Panel SA: Food and beverage brands boost new stores in malls

by

Brands in the food and beverage sectors gave impetus to the opening of new stores in malls in recent months, according to Abrasce, an association that brings together 601 enterprises across the country.

The entity registered 1,221 openings in the third quarter of this year, a number 70% higher than that recorded in the same period of 2020 and only surpassed by the last quarter of last year.

Food and beverage brands accounted for 23% of new stores, including Kekala Custom Picolé, Fini, KFC and Havanna Cafeteria. Clothing stores accounted for 21% of new points of sale.

The association says that the number of new stores in malls should surpass the marks achieved in recent years, mainly because of the launch of five projects opened in the pandemic.

The sector also registered an improvement in sales in the third quarter. The growth was 33% compared to the previous quarter and 55% compared to the same period last year.
