He called the price issue and how it is determined internationally “complex”, pointing out that the development is not linear since we are not in a position to know gas prices in a week. “Greece will do better than we thought,” he stressed, adding that “the limits of government interventions are specific.”
Mr. Georgiadis made a special reference to the audits carried out against corruption, recalling that when he took over the ministry, the relevant service was weakened and they had decades to carry out audits. Expressing his satisfaction with the course of the process, he noted that in the first phase one out of four businesses was illegal and received a fine, while today this percentage has fallen below 6%.
Asked about the household basket, he emphasized that the provision of the law will come to Parliament next week, while he explained that the delay is due to the intervention of the Competition Commission, which he believes will make a decision within the next few days.
Finally, Mr. Georgiadis referred to Elliniko, which he characterized as “the biggest bet” of the government, while he described as Calvary the bureaucratic process that had to be completed and a feat for the public administration. He noted that the project will become “the showcase of the country”, stressing that “this is the Greece we want”
