Applications for the second business opportunity program are due by November 4

On Friday, November 4, 2022, at 3:00 p.mthe online application deadline for the second business opportunity program, with an emphasis on women and the digital economy, with a subsidy of up to 36,000 euros.

As stated by Public Employment Service (DYPA) in a statement, the purpose of the program is to give a second business opportunity to former entrepreneurs, so that they can rejoin the labor market.

The grant lasts 12 months, with a three-month commitment and the grant amount ranges from 12,000 euros (for an individual business) to 24,000 euros (for a business with three beneficiary partners).

After completing the three-month commitment, the duration can be extended, upon application, by 12 months and the total grant amount will range from €20,000 to €36,000.

As noted in the announcement, the program has become more flexible, targeted and attractive:

– Digital economy businesses receive 40% extra points.

– Co-housing in business incubators, entrepreneurship spaces, as well as in-house operation for digital businesses is allowed.

– At least 40% of the positions will be filled by unemployed women.

– Disabled people and female victims of gender violence receive 60% additional cooperation points (coworking spaces).

Beneficiaries are registered unemployed who:

– They stopped their business activity between 1/1/2012-31/12/2021.

– They have not transferred their business or their share in a business that belonged to spouses or persons of the first or second degree of kinship.

– They have not carried out any professional-business activity from 1/1/2022 until the publication of the ministerial decision on 8/3/2022.

– They have paid the monthly contribution of 10 euros to the Special Unemployment Account for at least one year or have arranged it and are aware of the terms of the arrangement.

Also, unemployed former entrepreneurs who have not started a new business can apply to the program, provided that, after notification of the positive assessment (pre-approval) of their business plan by DYPA, they will proceed within two months to start of activity in DOU.

The total budget of the program amounts to 48 million euros.
