#Hashtag: Bolsonaristas are criticized for closing roads: ‘Freedom was only valid in the pandemic?’

by

The result of the 2022 elections, with a narrow victory for Lula (PT) in the race for the Presidency of the Republic, showed how much Brazil is politically divided. The result was the tightest since redemocratization –50.90% for PT and 49.10% for Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

If on the one hand there was celebration, a portion of Bolsonaristas did not accept defeat and began to make a series of roadblocks across the country since Sunday night (30). The protesters demand a coup and allege fraud in the elections, which did not happen.

The president has not yet commented on the defeat at the polls, nor has he spoken about the demonstrations, which is read in radical groups as a request for resistance and a coup.

Meanwhile, on the networks, the subject generates discussions. Some users compare the shutdowns to the way supporters have handled the pandemic.

The Northeast also came on the agenda, as the region was responsible for a large part of the votes for Lula, and since then it has been attacked by Bolsonaristas.

After circulating videos on the networks in which road police officers declare support for the protesters, the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, determined on Monday night (31) the immediate release of the highways. If the measure is not complied with, the determination is a fine of up to R$ 100 thousand per hour and the removal and even imprisonment of the director general of the PRF, Silvinei Vasques.

On the internet, some celebrated the measure. Will there be vacancies now for the concurseiros on duty?

Despite Moraes’ determination, on Tuesday morning (1st) most of the blocked points continued with protesters. There is no shortage of reports and images of how they have been protesting – from burnt tires on the road, to simulations of being run over.

In the end, it is up to comedian Fábio Porchat to end the stoppages.
