Twitter to relaunch verified account badge under signature in late November, says Musk

Elon Musk said on Tuesday that Twitter’s verified account badge will be relaunched on November 29, a slight delay from the initial schedule to bring back the subscription-based service.

“Deferring Blue Verified (Blue Seal) re-release to November 29th to ensure it’s rock solid,” the billionaire said in a tweet.

With the new release, changing an account’s verified name will cause it to lose the blue badge “until the name is confirmed by Twitter to meet the terms of service,” Musk said.

The badge was previously reserved for verified accounts of politicians, personalities, journalists and other public figures. But a subscription option, open to anyone willing to pay, was launched earlier this week as Musk tries to keep advertisers on the social network he bought for $44 billion.

Twitter stopped signing the blue seal for US$ 8 (R$ 42) on Friday (16). The move comes a week after Musk took over the social media company.
