Panel SA: Japan shirt, underdog of the Cup, sales skyrocket

by

The surprise entered the field in the first games of the World Cup with the victory of Japan and Saudi Arabia over favorite teams. The two zebras boosted demand for jerseys from these selections at Brazilian retailers.

Shortly after the match that marked the 2-1 Japanese victory over Germany, this Wednesday (23), searches for the Asian team’s uniform on the Netshoes marketplace, one of the largest in the industry, increased by 900%.

Only 10% of Japan’s shirt stock was available for sale this Thursday (24). The company does not disclose the total data of the sale. It says it is not authorized due to CVM (Securities Commission) rules.

Although virtual stores do not sell the Saudi Arabia uniform, which beat Lionel Messi’s Argentina, also by 2-1, at the beginning of the week, Netshoes observed a 300% growth in demand for the Saudi shirt hours after the game on its website of sales.
