Georgiadis: Elliniko will be the city of the 22nd century today, and the new face of Greece

by

“Elliniko is not just a real estate project as many think” the Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis notes in GRTimes – What he said about the “household basket”

For the “household basket” which, “fortunately for consumers, works”, the investment in Elliniko, which as he says “will be the city of the 22nd century in the 21st century and this will be the new face of Greece”, but also the self-reliance in the next elections, the annexations and the case of the Ark, the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, speaks to GRTimes.

The “household basket” has been in place for almost a month. What is the first valuation since its operation?

I would like you to remember the sharp tones used by the opposition for the basket in the first week of its implementation and compare them with the tones of the present time. Every now and then they make an announcement about the price of weapons.

The difference in opposition tones for the basket is its inversely proportional success. Because they see that it works for it and they don’t shout. If it didn’t work, do you have any doubt that I would be in their crosshairs every day? Fortunately for consumers, it works.

You have characterized the investment in Elliniko as “the new face of Greece abroad”. How would you describe the characteristics of this person?

Elliniko is not just a real estate project as many think. Elliniko will be the first modern city in the world with sustainable development, full green, only green energy, full recycling, all digital with the latest technological developments. Elliniko will be the city of the 22nd century in the 21st century and this will be the new face of Greece.

The opposition accuses you that in the name of self-reliance you have no interlocutors in the political scene. Because the ballot box may vindicate you, it may not, in the second case, with which political forces can you cooperate, so that the country does not remain ungoverned?

First of all, we have never ruled out our cooperation with any party with which we can come to an agreement. We cannot cooperate with SYRIZA because we disagree on almost everything. We cannot cooperate with Velopoulos because we disagree on the basics such as the European perspective of the country.

Could we cooperate with PASOK? I tell you yes, we have cooperated with PASOK in the past, we could do so now. But, be careful, PASOK must also want it. Government cooperation happens when both parties want it. Here, PASOK does not want to cooperate with Kyriakos Mitsotakis. So, we don’t isolate ourselves, others don’t want to. Therefore the only option is the independent Government of the New Democracy. Let’s not fool the world. As things are, life has two paths. The autonomous Government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis or political instability.

On the issue of monitoring, is it such a big problem for the government – which learned about the Androulakis case – to tell us why this connection was made? In this way, the citizens will have an explanation and the opposition will stop pressuring you. Why do you deny it?

If it is revealed publicly why the EYP recommended and the prosecutor allowed the connection of Mr. Androulakis’s mobile phone, it is better to abolish the EYP on the same day we announce it. Let’s close it.

It is impossible to have a secret service on the planet that will make its informants and information public. There is no point in existing the next day. It is better to say clearly “we want to have no EYP and secret services” than to formulate such absurd demands.

Show me a secret service on the planet that has done something like that. Secret services are secret, or should we call them overt. I wonder, doesn’t Mr. Androulakis, who wants to govern Greece one day, understand this simple thing?

Although your party is in favor of private initiative, cases such as the “World Ark” were effectively kept out of state control, with known results. Should we be led to the conclusion that state presence in such cases is imperative?

The exact opposite happens. First of all, the liberal ideology of the economy has nothing to do with institutions. They are two different things.

Our Government legislated, and in fact legislated in the midst of fierce reactions at the time, state control over institutions of this type. And because of this legislation, the temporary administration was able to enter the Ark today. So, not only did we identify that these areas were out of control but we got ahead and legislated before the crisis.

We must publicly acknowledge that Mrs. Domna Michailidou, although she received severe criticism at the time, was vindicated by the developments.
