Over 10,000 applications for the free European Youth Card: What it is, what it is used for and how to get it

In Greece, the card program is implemented by the Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation (INEDIVIM).

More than 10,000 young people have applied for the European Youth Card, which is granted, for the first time, free of charge, through the cooperation of the Public Employment Service (DYPA) and the Foundation for Youth and Lifelong Learning (INEDIVIM).

The new action enables all unemployed persons up to the age of 30, all students of the 50 Apprenticeship Vocational Schools (EPAS) and students up to the age of 30 in the 31 IEK of DYPA to submit an application for the free issuance of the European Card Youth for one year.

The European Youth Card is aimed at young people, aged 13 to 30, and offers its holders discounts on specific services and products in Greece and in more than 37 European countries.

As stated in a relevant announcement, card holders enjoy discounts and offers on products and services in areas such as education, tourism, transport, culture, health, sports, entertainment, catering, telephony, etc.

Applications are submitted exclusively online at: https://europeanyouthcard.gr/home/el/.

The card can be collected a) at 146 Vodafone stores, which cooperate for this purpose with INEDIVIM and b) at the offices of the European Youth Card in Athens (Acharnon 417 & Kokkinaki, near ISAP Ag. Eleftherios station) and Thessaloniki (Port of Thessaloniki, 1st wharf, OLTH Public Ports Authority Office Building).

The total cost is expected to reach 700,000 euros and will be covered by DYPA for the first 116,666 young people who apply.

This is a discount and not a credit or debit card and is valid for one year.

Almost six million young people across Europe are card holders, with access to more than 43,500 offers, while in Greece 378 businesses and organizations participate in the program, covering many different areas of activity, such as:

Transport: urban/interurban transport and rail transport, with discounts of up to 50%.

Education: distance education programs of Greek universities, Post-secondary Education Centers, Vocational Training Institutes (VET), Vocational Training Centers (VET), language schools and dance classes, with discounts of up to 30% on the programs offered.

Tourism: hotels, rooms for rent, camping, hostels and car rentals, with discounts of up to 15%.

Culture: cinemas, theatres, museums, cultural events and concerts, with discounts of up to 20%.

Shops: clothing, optical, hair salons, jewelry, bookstores, bicycles, and home/gift items, with discounts of up to 15%.

Entertainment/Food: restaurants, bars and cafes, with discounts of up to 25%.

Health: clinics, diagnostic centers and doctors, with discounts of up to 30%.

Sports: gyms, sports lessons and outdoor sports, with discounts of up to 50%.

Services: telephony, Internet, insurance, accounting, printing and repairs, with discounts of up to 20%.

Beauty: hair salons and beauty salons, with discounts of up to 20%.
