The government of São Paulo has already released information on the IPVA (Tax on Motor Vehicle Ownership) 2023, and the taxpayer will be able to make the payment from January 2nd on the banking network.
According to Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks), both the consultation of values and the payment of IPVA 2023 can be carried out from the first working day of next year, a Monday. The service will be available in bank applications, on the internet, at ATMs and in the branch network.
Before that date, the taxpayer can already consult the market value of his vehicle, which will be used as the basis for calculating the rate and the amount to be paid. The system with the already updated table was published in the Official Gazette of São Paulo this Tuesday, 20.
Fazenda de São Paulo has a page for consultation, in the Vehicle System (Sivei) of the portal. You must click on “Vehicle Value Consultation”, in the “IPVA” field. The owner must provide the license plate number and check the “I’m not a robot” box. The system also informs if the vehicle already fits into exemption criteria by year of manufacture.
On the market value of the vehicle, calculated by annual survey carried out by Fipe (Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas), the rate referring to the type of fuel used is applied: 4% for passenger cars; 2% for motorcycles and the like, single cab vans, minibuses, buses and heavy machinery; in addition to 1.5% for trucks and 1% for vehicles from rental companies, registered in São Paulo.
How will be the payment
Owners will be able to choose between the following forms of payment with maturities according to the end of the license plate:
