The Guararapes Group, controller of Riachuelo, announced this Tuesday (10) the closure of the factory it maintains in Fortaleza (CE).
Guararapes says it offered the 2,000 professionals the option of transferring to the factory in Natal (RN) —about 500 kilometers away— and is awaiting the announcement of the workers’ decision. If they do not accept, they will be fired.
According to the company’s statement, the decision is part of the strategic planning to optimize business in the country. No stores will be closed in Ceará.
Also according to the company, the dismissed employees will receive an extension of the health plan for double the prior notice, an additional half-floor wage and industrial sewing machines were donated to the seamstresses.
