Panel SA: Progenerics defines new president

by

Former president of Geap Saúde (Public Servant Assistance Foundation), Thiago Meirelles will assume the executive presidency of PróGenéricos, an association that represents the generic medicine industry in the country.

He will replace Telma Salles, who led the organization for ten years. The executive had announced her departure in October.

In a statement, the organization also announced that it will transfer its headquarters from São Paulo to Brasília. The idea is to get closer to the federal government in discussions about access to medicines and the duration of pharmaceutical patents, guidelines defended by the sector.

In addition to having worked at Geap Saúde, Meirelles has been a career civil servant at Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) since 2008.

Prógenéricos brings together 16 pharmaceutical companies with 90% of sales in the generics segment and 50% of the biosimilars market in Brazil.
