In addition to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the movement of tourism entrepreneurs calling for the return of daylight saving time went to the door of the Ministry of the Environment to try to discuss the issue.
Led by entities such as Feturismo (Federation of Hosting, Gastronomy, Entertainment and Leisure Companies of Paraná) and CNTur (National Tourism Confederation), the group prepared a letter for the two folders defending that changing the clock can help in the awareness work for savings in energy consumption, in addition to benefiting the service sector. They argue that daylight saving time can help them by extending the time of their activities.
For Feturismo, this would be a way for the federal government to compensate for the losses recorded by the sector when closing its doors during the pandemic.
Daylight saving time was suspended by Bolsonaro in 2019. To justify the measure, the former president said that the productivity of the Brazilian worker would increase, because, according to him, it affected the biological clock of the population.
Fábio Aguayo, president of Feturismo and signatory of the letter, says that the document was also sent to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
