Panel SA: Panettone factories increase production for post-vaccine Christmas

by

After a Christmas with restricted celebration in 2020, when there was still no vaccine for the coronavirus, Panettone manufacturers returned to bet on larger batches this year, and demand for the product grew in the week before the date, according to the companies.

Havanna provides 80% advance in sales compared to Christmas last year. Cocoa Show expects to sell 42% more. Productions were expanded at the same rate to keep pace with the warming.

At Arcor, which has a portfolio with 13 types of Panettone, sales are faster than last Christmas. “Arcor’s production grew 10% compared to the previous year. Retail has returned effectively and the scenario this Christmas has been quite positive”, says Anderson Freire, Director at the company.

Bauducco began distributing Panettone in stores at the end of August. The forecast was to manufacture 80 million units, up 5 million compared to Christmas 2020. The company does not disclose sales expectations.
