Panel SA: Skaf demonstrates influence in Fiesp after internal battle for command

by

The signature of Paulo Skaf, former president of Fiesp, alongside the signature of Josué Gomes, the current president, in the entity’s reconciliation letter was read with different interpretations by people who followed the internal dispute in recent months.

Skaf’s return to the scene could mean weakness on the part of Josué, who would not have been able to resolve the situation on his own at a Fiesp still linked to his predecessor, whose tenure lasted 17 years. But it can also be interpreted as an honorable departure for Skaf, pointed out as a supporter of the rebellion that tried to overthrow Josué, but was unsuccessful. Without peace this Thursday (27), the case would have to be resolved in court.

In any case, it is a fact that Skaf’s return to sign under a conciliation attests that he maintained influence there. In the document, the former president of the organization ended up assuming the role of spokesman that Josué’s opposition does not have. Skaf has always denied any involvement in the dispute.

In the joint text released this Thursday, Gomes and Skaf say that it is necessary to set an “example of overcoming differences” and ask that everyone abandon “possible differences”.

The letter was praised by leaders of the entities.

“From the beginning, our objective was to have a strong Fiesp. The understanding reached today is fundamental for management in this direction, as it is shared with the Unions”, said André Sturm, representative of the audiovisual industry, who criticized Josué.

José Ricardo Roriz, from Abiplast, who had been preaching peace, also celebrated the end of the dispute. “We all have to support President Josué, so that Fiesp fulfills its role of representing São Paulo’s industry, whether small or large. Turning over this page of disagreements will be a big step”, he stated.
