Simone says that, without Pacheco in the Senate, ‘you can’t talk about lowering interest rates’

Minister Simone Tebet, of Planning, is campaigning for the election of Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD) for the presidency of the Senate. This Tuesday (31), she will participate, in Brasília (DF), in a lunch where the government will count the votes confirmed for the ally’s re-election.

Considered the favorite in the election scheduled for Wednesday (1st), Pacheco is, in Simone’s evaluation, the figure capable of guaranteeing harmony between the democratic Powers.

“Without this, it is not possible to talk about lowering interest rates to 13.75%, it is not possible to talk about guaranteeing lower inflation, it is not possible to talk about economic growth, job and income generation and the quality of public services”, said the Minister of Planning.

According to Simone, democracy is the “big umbrella” of pending issues for discussion. “So yes, I’m campaigning,” she said. “At lunchtime, because at other times I am Minister of State.”

Pacheco seeks re-election in the Senate and will have as his opponent Bolsonaro’s former minister Rogério Marinho (PL-RN). Although Lula publicly states that he will not interfere in the dispute, PT members have been working for the re-election of the miner.

The Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro (PSD-MT), will temporarily resume his mandate in the Senate next Wednesday to guarantee the vote for the ally.

The invasion of the headquarters of the Three Powers, on January 8, made Pacheco’s allies reinforce the discourse that it is necessary to re-elect the parliamentarian also to contain Bolsonarism.

“The 8th of January was not just any date”, said Simone Tebet.

Members of the Lula government have articulated for the re-elections of the two presidents of the legislative houses, through which the proposed amendment to the Constitution (PEC) of the tax reform will pass.

Work in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate will resume on Wednesday. The change in the tax structure and the new fiscal framework (a rule that will replace the spending ceiling) will be the two priority agendas of the Lula government in the Legislative.
