Petrobras will reduce by 8.9% the price of diesel sold by its refineries starting this Wednesday (8). According to the state company, the average price of the product will fall from R$ 4.50 to R$ 4.10 per liter. There will be no change in the price of gasoline.
The cut was expected by the market, since the company has been operating with prices much higher than the international prices of the product, which retreat in the face of weak demand and high European stocks.
At the opening of the market this Tuesday (7), diesel sold by Petrobras refineries was 16%, or R$ 0.60 per liter), above the import parity, according to Abicom (Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers) . In the national average, the difference was 14%, or R$ 0.56 per liter.
The state-owned company says that the reduction “has as its main guideline the search for the balance of Petrobras prices in the national and international markets, contemplating the main supply alternatives for our customers and the necessary market share for the optimization of assets”.
Considering the mandatory blend of 10% biodiesel in the product sold at gas stations, Petrobras’ share of the consumer price will be, on average, R$ 3.69 for each liter sold at the pump. It is a difference of R$ 0.35 per liter compared to the current value.
