The requirement for a vaccination passport in restaurants, which began to apply in some destinations in the Northeast in this new phase of the pandemic, has already received criticism from establishment owners, who report difficulties in controlling it.
Leandro Menezes, president of Abrasel in Bahia (an association that brings together bars and restaurants in the state), says that the rule has been causing a “tremendous confusion” since it went into effect last Tuesday (11).
“We are already coming from a very difficult period, with very dry teams, and most bars and restaurants don’t have a person to just charge their passport at the entrance. Waiters, in general, are having to divide their activity “, says Menezes. One of the problems, according to him, is the malfunction of the Conect SUS, an application of the Ministry of Health.
Menezes says that, this week, he was unable to receive a group of eight tourists at his restaurant, Guapo Mexican Bar, because one of the members was unable to access the application, which issues proof of vaccination, and suffered a hacker attack in December. According to him, reservations have already been canceled because of the measure.
In addition to Bahia, the government of Pernambuco also decreed the requirement for a vaccination passport in establishments from this Friday (14) until January 31. André Araújo, president of Abrasel in the state, argues that bars and restaurants are safe from a health point of view and that the passport could be replaced by a massive vaccination campaign.
