Registered unemployed decreased in May 2023, according to the statistics of registered unemployment of the Public Employment Service (DYPA).

In particular, the total number of unemployed registered in the DYPA register, in May 2023, amounted to 854,181 people, recording a decrease of 72,263 people (-7.8%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, May 2022, and a decrease of 73,612 people (-7.9%) compared to the previous month of April 2023.

Of the 854,181 people, 507,209 (percentage 59.4%) are registered in the DYPA register for a period equal to or longer than 12 months and 346,972 (percentage 40.6%) are registered in the DYPA register for a period less than 12 months.

The men amounted to 292,389 people (percentage of 34.2%) and the women they amounted to 561,792 people (65.8% rate).

THE age group 30-44 years old gathers the largest number of registrants among the age categories, which amounted to 278,573 people (32.6%).

The secondary education levelwhich also includes post-secondary education, gathered the largest number of enrollments among educational levels, which amounted to 401,333 people (47.0% rate).

Among the Regions of the country, Region of Attica and the Region of Central Macedonia registered the largest number of registrants, which amounted to 299,094 people (35.0% rate) and 173,151 people (20.3% rate) respectively.

The total number of subsidized unemployed, in May 2023, (refers to the number of beneficiaries paid within the corresponding month), amounted to 117,597 people, of which 98,079 (83.4%) are common unemployed and other categories of subsidized unemployed and 19,518 (16.6%) are seasonal tourist occupations.

In particular, the number of subsidized unemployed people, in May 2023, reached 117,597 people, recording an increase of 5,839 people (5.2%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, May 2022, and an increase of 62,159 people (112.1 %) compared to the previous month of April 2023.

Males numbered 53,992 (percentage of 45.9%) and females numbered 63,605 (percentage of 54.1%).

Of the total number of subsidized unemployed, 92,095 (78.3% rate) are general, 2,565 (2.2% rate) are builders, 19,518 (16.6% rate) are seasonal tourist occupations, 3,059 (2.6% rate) are seasonal other (agricultural), 304 (0.3% rate) are educational and 56 (0.0% rate) are other.
