Panel SA: Positive Covid test in pharmacy registers new peak of the month this Monday

The wave of positive results in rapid Covid tests carried out in pharmacies reached a new peak this Monday (17), according to monitoring by Abrafarma (an association that brings together the large drugstore chains).

The survey recorded 42,000 positive diagnoses, the highest daily volume since January 1st, when the explosion of the omicron began to show signs, still at the level of 3,400.

Demand also remains high, reaching 92,000 tests performed per day. Since January 11, it has been above 80,000 daily tests.

And the percentage of positives in the total of tests carried out exceeded 45% this weekend, well above the level recorded on the first day of 2022, when this participation was around 20%.

Since the first day of the year, around 1.1 million tests were carried out in the country’s pharmacies, including tests for antigens and antibodies and of the PCR type, according to Abrafarma.

Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo are the states with the highest testing, around 30,000 this Monday, with 44% being positive. The highest percentages of positives appear in Amazonas (55.8%), Ceará (51.5%) and Roraima (51.3%).
