Panel SA: Agencies pressure government of Amazonas to charge vaccine passport in mall and gym

by

The Federal Public Ministry recommended this Monday (17) that the government of Amazonas determine the requirement of proof of vaccination for entry into malls, beauty salons and gyms in the state.

The recommendation, which would be valid for people over 18 years old, takes into account the increase in the number of cases of Covid-19 in recent weeks, after the advance of the omicron – which can impact hospital admissions.

A year ago, Manaus was experiencing a collapse of the health system, with a record of hospitalizations and lack of oxygen for patients.

The document is also signed by the Public Ministry of Labor, Accounts and Amazonas, in addition to the Public Defender’s Offices of the Union and the state.

The bodies say that establishments should fit the same rule as restaurants, social events, hotels and amusement parks, which must already request a vaccination passport from customers.

“The lack of requirement for proof of vaccination in shopping malls, beauty salons, barber shops, beauty clinics, spas, water parks, recreational clubs, gyms and the like, especially during school holidays and when there is a large flow of people to these places , puts the lives and safety of workers in these establishments at risk, who are continually exposed to contact with consumers”, says the document.

The bodies also want the inspection of the measures in force to be expanded. The government of Amazonas has five days to inform whether or not it will comply with the recommendation.
