“Freeze installments” of all informed household and business loans as well as auctions for those affected by the floods until the end of 2023, announced the president of the Greek Banks Association Vasilis Rapanos after the meeting with the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis.

The banks will even give 50 million euros to carry out infrastructure projects.

In particular, in the announcement issued by the Hellenic Banking Association, it is stated that the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Banking Association, in its extraordinary meeting, decided the following:

1. The four systemic Banks EET members, as part of their extensive Corporate Social Responsibility actions, will contribute the amount ofof fifty million euros (50,000,000) in the national effort to restore the serious damages from the natural disaster in the region of Thessaly. The specific amount will be allocated for rehabilitation or infrastructure development projects and its distribution will be determined in collaboration with the relevant Ministries, the local government and the social and economic bodies of the region.

2. All Banks, members of EET, taking into account the very serious effects of natural phenomena on the local economy and society, immediately proceed to implement the following individual protection measures that specifically concern borrowers in the affected areas:

2.1 They suspend the obligation to pay installments of informed loans for natural persons and businesses until December 31, 2023.

2.2 They suspend all judicial and extrajudicial debt collection procedures for natural persons and businesses until December 31, 2023.

These measures concern those affected who fall within the protection perimeter of state support measures, as they were announced and will be implemented.

3. Recognizing the important contribution of the businesses of Thessaly to the export orientation and the development dynamics of the national economy, the Banks are ready to propose specialized solutions to facilitate and strengthen the businesses that were affected, in order for them to cope with this difficult situation and to continue to offer the local community and employment.

Beneficiaries are requested to submit their relevant request with all means of communication (physical or electronic submission of the request is possible) directly to their partner Bank.
