The internal party process for the election of a president in SYRIZA demonstrates the deepest problem that this party has. The voters, the executives who go and vote are in shock with the collapse that existed in the elections, they are looking for something new, that’s why they chose the two youngest candidates” was the comment of Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis about the internal party process in SYRIZA speaking today in the morning on SKAI.

He added that on the one hand we have the continuation of the Tsipras model, with Efi Ahtsioglou, who brought them this far, and on the other hand we have something different and exotic one could say, with features that raise questions.

“But it’s none of my business. We are watching from the outside,” he said and added that the world has drawn its conclusions about SYRIZA, without this meaning that the government is complacent.

When asked which of the two SYRIZA leader candidates can threaten Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Mr. Hatzidakis replied: “Neither one nor the other can threaten Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Only arrogance, complacency and non-concern with citizens’ problems could threaten Mr. Mitsotakis.”

Asked about the tax evasion the finance minister said that “much needs to be done, but some things have been done”, mainly with the expansion of electronic transactions, brought about both by the closure of banks in 2015 and by the pandemic.

He added that the government has ten measures in the works, which the prime minister presented to the TIF, with an orientation towards the use of digital technologies for checks and transactions, as well as limiting cash.

For her interface of POS with cash registers Mr. Hatzidakis said that it will happen in the first months of 2024, he repeated that mydata will become mandatory, while announcing new bill on taxation of freelancers.

“We don’t want to be unfair, but we won’t be unfair to all other taxpayers,” he said characteristically and added that over 60% of freelancers declare an annual income of less than 10,000 euros, i.e. an income lower than that of a salaried employee with the minimum wage.

He added that the bill will be ready in the coming months and AADE will play a role in the plan with intersections that will be widened.

He emphasized that the ultimate goal is for everyone to pay fairly.

In fact, he emphasized that it is a global problem and pointed out that a series of events have changed the cycle of the international economy.

“The government is giving what it can” he underlined, stressing that in no case will it jeopardize fiscal stability.

He added that, on average, Greece’s inflation is below the EU average, but in food the accuracy persists, which is why four additional measures were announced by Kostas Skrekas.

Finally, he pointed out that it is the prime minister’s order “to deal in the most systematic way” with the issue of accuracy.
