The Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Mr. Haris Theocharis, clarified what is true regarding the allowances of freelancers, as well as the tax rates, with his intervention on Real FM and the journalist Nikos Hatzinikolaou.

Mr. Theoharis pointed out that “there is no question of changing the status of social benefits or the criteria on the basis of which they are awarded to freelancers”.

In addition, he pointed out that “the government has emphasized from the beginning that there is no case of surprising the freelancers or, in general, any part of the citizens. We have never – and never will – introduce measures without social consent, measures which have not previously been submitted to the consultation process.

As a Government, we have already taken important initiatives (expansion of digital transactions, amendments to taxation, intensified controls, etc.) to deal with tax evasion”.

In the context of the same intervention, Mr. Haris Theocharis clarified that the possibility of increasing the tax rates is not being considered.
