by

8 out of 10 citizens, ie five million taxpayers will see a reduction in ENFIA this year and permanently stated the Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras analyzing the announcements made earlier by the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Mr. Staikouras stated that 350 million is reduced and this concerns the vast majority of citizens.

“It is another implementation of the pre-election commitments”, Mr. Staikouras characteristically noted

More specifically, the Minister of Finance stated that the government reduces ENFIA to such an extent that it exceeds the pre-election commitment for a total reduction of 30%.

According to him, the reform drastically changes the structure of the tax – as he explained – objective values are adjusted, most of which were incremental, new areas are included, real estate valuation zones are expanded, the basic tax rates are significantly reduced. and the supplementary tax is incorporated in the basic tax.

Mr. Staikouras also noted that 4 main goals of the government are being achieved: it exceeds the pre-election commitment to reduce ENFIA, to individuals, by 30%.

“Within 2.5 years, during the current government of New Democracy, the total reduction of ENFIA amounts to 34% compared to 2018. That is, natural persons will pay, from this year, a total of 920 million euros less than in 2018! The total certified real estate tax, from 2022, permanently, without the zone extensions that we expect the integration of their data, is reduced by an additional 13% compared to 2021, ie reduced by 860 million euros compared to 2018 “In particular, from 2022, the total amount of the certificate will be set, according to estimates, at 2.23 billion euros, reduced by 350 million euros compared to 2021,” he said.

At the same time, the tax is reduced for the vast majority of citizens. Specifically, 8 out of 10 citizens, 80% of individuals who will pay real estate tax in 2022, ie about 5 million taxpayers will see, from this year and permanently, an even greater reduction of ENFIA.

14% will pay the same tax as last year, he added.

In addition, about 6% of the total will see an increase in ENFIA. For about half of these owners, the annual increase will not exceed 50 euros.

The 30% tax deduction that is valid – today – for real estate up to 60,000 euros, is extended to 100,000 euros, now covering 65% of taxpayers, compared to 54% before.

That is, for 733,000 natural persons, mainly the lower and middle incomes, the percentage of the discount increases.

Increases, from 20% to 25%, the tax deduction for taxpayers with real estate value from 100,001 to 150,000 euros.

That is, at least an additional 400,000 middle-income taxpayers will receive a larger deduction.

The basic building tax rates are significantly reduced, with an emphasis on the lower and middle value zones, so that 65% of the old zones have a decrease, 34% remain stable and only 1% see an increase.

At the same time, several low and medium zone scales are integrated at the lower scale levels.

The rates of the basic land tax are reduced, so that 91% of the old zones have a decrease, 7% remain stable and only 2% see an increase.

The certificate on the basic land tax is now reduced by about 50% on average.

The supplementary tax – for natural persons – is integrated into the basic tax, in a way that corrects distortions and injustices of the past, which burdened a part of society too much.

There are no changes to the additional corporate tax.

The fourth goal, according to the Minister of Finance, is that the new reduced ENFIA will be paid in more installments.

It is estimated that the certificates will be issued by the end of April, and payments can then be made in 10 installments.
