Footstool with increments will do or already did the vast majority of civil servants and pensioners. At the same time, several workers in the private sector will also see more money in their accounts, such as those who complete 3 years after the “unfreezing” of the measure, as well as in the second year those who are paid the minimum wage.

The increased salaries for January 2024 concern among others 630,000 civil servants – for the first time after 14 years – and about 1.8 million pensioners, with the total amount of income support for the whole year amounting to 2 .5 billion euros.

The categories are detailed below of those who will receive increases, as well as their amount:

•Public servants: Based on the new salary scale for civil servants, from January 2024 they will receive an increase of 70 euros in the basic salary, a larger child benefit from 20 to 50 euros, but also an indirect increase from 6.4 to 18.3 euros due to the reduced withholding in the amount of tax from the increase of the tax-free by 1,000 euros for families with children. According to the new salary list, the annual benefit at average levels, per employee, amounts to 2,084 euros gross or 1,476 euros net.

•Pensioners: About 1.8 million pensioners who have no personal difference or a personal difference of up to 10 euros, from January 1, 2024 will have increases in their monthly earnings of about 3%.

•Removal of penalties: The 30% reduction in pensions for employed pensioners is abolished and replaced by a 10% contribution on the additional remuneration they receive from their work.

•Three years: The measure with the “unfreeze” affects over time, starting from January 1, more than 600,000 workers who are paid the minimum wage.

•Minimum wage: Another increase, estimated to range from 5% to 6% in minimum wages, will come through 2024. This rate will incorporate current inflation, but also a portion of productivity growth. The relevant procedure for increasing the minimum wage will start at the end of January 2024 and will be implemented from May 2024. Given these percentage increases, the new wage will range from 820 to 830 euros, so 120 to 130 euros remain – more – by 2027 to reach a minimum wage target of 950 euros.

•Minimum guaranteed income: An 8% increase in the minimum guaranteed income has already been given. The measure concerns 200,000 citizens who live off this money.
