Panel SA: Itaú points to progress in real estate financing outside capital cities

by

A survey by Itaú indicates an increase in demand for properties in municipalities outside the capitals in 2021, with an emphasis on properties of up to 50 m².

The appreciation of the property and the need for multifunctional environments for remote work have strengthened the trend of looking for smaller residences, according to Thales Ferreira Silva, director at Itaú Unibanco.

An example of this, according to the study, is the 162% increase in the volume of bank financing for properties with areas between 50 m² and 100 m².

Higher-end properties also advanced in 2021, with a 140% increase in the number of financing for houses and apartments with values above R$ 1 million.

The most expressive stampede regions in the capitals were the Midwest, Northeast and North, with growth above 300%. The states with the highest increase in the volume of real estate financing were Amapá (548%), Paraíba (311%) and Mato Grosso do Sul (229%).
