On Tuesday, we wrote from here about the errors in Ms. Magdaleni’s tax return, who found herself receiving pensions she never dreamed of

The problem with Mrs. Magdalini, however, seems to be only the surface of an… iceberg of problems in their elements pre-filled tax returns. Day by day there are increasing complaints from accountants and tax professionals from all over the territory that banks and government agencies in particular have not posted all the information required to submit tax returns. And many times in what is posted there are errors and omissions.

In other cases, it is observed that the computer companies have not yet had time to upgrade their programs with the new tax forms, which makes the work of tax technicians very difficult.

For the smoothest possible process of submitting tax returns, the Deputy Minister of Finance Haris Theocharis recommended one informal group work which accepts complaints and reports of problems, records them and forwards them to the services of the Ministry of Finance and the AADE for resolution.

Through this process, only the Panhellenic Federation of Tax Professionals (P.OF.E.E.) has highlighted, among others, the following problems for which a solution is still being sought:

– The refundable deposit in code 727 was not completed
– Incorrect interest on deposits and loans
– The extraordinary benefits of pensioners have not increased
– Various ministries (such as Rural Development), health districts and some municipalities have not yet uploaded salary certificates
– Problems with self-employed withholdings
– Reported that code 781 on clearance does not cover presumptions – incorrect clearance calculation
– The transport equivalent of individuals (without professional activity) is entered manually in E1 (suggested by POFEE if it is possible to do the process automatically).
– Errors in the transfer of losses from previous years concerning agricultural enterprises
Cars in circulation in 2023 are not shown in E1

There are also many complaints of seniors being forced to go to banks to open accounts to get an account number (IBAN).

This informal group has also helped to resolve issues related to the impossibility of printing settlement statements, the display of settlement credit results in non-credit statements, the raising of the child benefit and the social solidarity benefit, the postings of OPEKEPE, the inability to submit a statement from liable child if the parent did not first submit a declaration and the completion of codes 047-048 regarding the reduction of the minimum income for residents of areas with less than 500 inhabitants based on the 2011 census!!!

Market players fear that the situation will worsen down the road as we are still at the beginning. The submission of tax returns for natural persons began on April 26 for natural persons and on May Day for businesses. And in fact, we have started from the… easy ones, because many freelancers and self-employed people – whose taxation changes radically this year – “practice” the submission of the statement out of “fear” of the liquidation bill. After all, the instructions for completing the E3 were posted only on May 14.

In this context, POFEE considers the deadlines for the submission of tax returns (until July 26 for natural persons and until June 28 for businesses) suffocating and unrealistic and they request an extension
