There are approximately 300 hotels in Greece, to which FTI owes a total of around 1.8 million euros, from the previous year
In full alertness is the mechanism of the Ministry of Tourism after the developments that occurred today Monday, after the bankruptcy application of the German tourism giant FTI, as the main concern is the safe return of foreign travelers who are in Greece and have come with the German Tour Operator. The EOT office in Germany is already in constant meetings, while in Athens the Ministry of Tourism and the responsible minister Olga Kefalogianni is on an open line with all those involved.
It is characteristic that in 7,500 tourists are estimated to be in Greece at the moment and they have come to our country, through the FTI group, which filed for bankruptcy earlier today. According to reliable information, the 7,500 visitors who have come to Greece so far will return to their place of residence when they finish their planned vacation. What is certain is that their vacations will not be disturbed by the international Tour Operator’s bankruptcy filing, and this is what is emphasized by the agencies involved.
In fact, the country’s hoteliers who host them in Greece, at their own expense they will take care of their transportation to the Greek airports. At the same time, the present development will be without financial loss for the hoteliers who cooperate with FTI, since as it has been known, these hotels have been prepaid for the arrivals of FTI’s customers so far. After all, since last year the Greek professionals in the sector had suspected that something was not right with the particular travel organizer. However, there are approximately 300 hotels in Greece, in which FTI owes a total of around 1.8 million euros, from the previous year.
