The 2 main pillars for ELTA’s tomorrow
The management of ELTA is planning significant changes in the way it operates and in the utilization of its infrastructure, aiming for 2024 to be a year without losses. On the occasion of the publication of the 2023 financial results, as ELTA CEO Grigoris Sklikas emphasized yesterday, “from 2023, the Hellenic Post Office is implementing an integrated strategic recovery plan, with the main axes being cost reduction, the updating of structures, the improvement of mix of products & services, their emergence as a key protagonist of e-commerce in SE Europe through partnerships and commercial extroversion. We believe it is a business that can recover and emerge as a key player in the middle economy, offering a new wider network with more and more digital solutions for individuals and businesses.”
In this context, the development of synergies with third parties, outsourcing services, new products, reinforcement of the already extensive network and installation of boxes is planned.
The two main pillars for the future of ELTA concern:
– The new development concept with point to point services: B2B commercial expansions, backbone opening, e-commerce, financial services. Rational expansion of trade network: new – more targeted customer contact points.
-The internal reorganization based on modern – best practices of corporate operation and governance: Building processes and infrastructures.
In particular, as mentioned by the managing director of ELTA, Grigoris Sklikas, in terms of infrastructure, it is planned to transfer the administrative functions of ELTA to a new Dimand building in Kato Patisia (today they are located in 5 buildings). The move will start in December and is expected to be completed by April 2025. It is also starting the processes to utilize the real estate it has through tenders. It is moving into Finance and IT outsourcing, planning the automation of sorting and expecting the receipt of 4 (+2) new large parcels. It is also moving forward with the reorganization of its network, with the merger of ELTA & ELTA Courier, the attraction of third parties (3rd parties) to take over ELTA network nodes, but also in collaborations with external partners for PuDos.
Regarding the commercial operation, it is preparing a new product portfolio and procurement model, the utilization of ELTA’s Backbone, offering the network as a service to third parties and plans to emphasize cross-border trade and e-commerce. At the organizational level, the reorganization of the network at 143 points throughout the country was completed and the gradual transition to the new sorting and distribution networks began. The company’s new strategy focuses on the concentration of service points, regardless of the number of physical stores. Despite the fact that service-complaint indicators published by the National Telecommunications and Postal Commission (EETT) show that ELTA’s service is among the highest performing in the market, it is also true that the overall level of service, due to geomorphological constraints and relative costs , has significant room for improvement, which is a central core of ELTA’s strategic plan, for the benefit of the entire market.
Regarding the merger of ELTA and ELTA Courier, as Mr. Sklikas said, from tomorrow we will have one company, one culture and a strong brand.
Sta benefits from the ELTA Hellenic Post-ELTA Courier merger are included, based on the new design:
- One company, one culture, one strong brand.
- A shared dynamic product portfolio.
- A shared extended network & third party partnerships
- Hybrid distribution models. Digital Tools & Upgraded Features for Tracking & Last Mile.
- Common processes with improved services and common reporting.
