The Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis today he goes to Brussels, where he will participate in his meetings Eurogroup and his ECOFIN.

On Monday, November 4, the Eurogroup meeting will be held, where a Joint Declaration on the competitiveness of the European economy is expected to be adopted. The agenda also includes a discussion of the euro area banking system and the main challenges it faces, monitoring progress on the Capital Markets Union and taking stock of the latest macroeconomic developments and outlook, with a focus on inflation.

At the ECOFIN meeting on Tuesday 5 November, the Council will seek political agreement on the legislative package for VAT in the digital age. In addition, the Ministers will be informed about the progress of the implementation of the Recovery Fund and will approve the revised national plans of the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. The agenda also includes discussions on the fiscal aspects of Draghi’s report on the competitiveness of the European economy, on the economic impact of the war in Ukraine and on the findings of the European Fiscal Council’s annual report. Council Conclusions on EU statistics for 2024 are also expected to be adopted.

Additionally, the established Ministerial Dialogue between the EU and the countries of the European Free Trade Area (EFTA) will be held within the framework of ECOFIN.

On the sidelines of the meetings, Mr. Hatzidakis will have meetings with European officials.
