We are never going to stop the effort to reduce the prices of products on the shelf, Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos stressed to SKAI, adding that the priority is the lower economic strata.

In the last 6 months, inflation has been below 1%, the minister underlined and added that in Greece the inflation in food products is half of the Eurozone average.

“What we experienced in previous years due to both the pandemic and the two wars that led to a price increase of more than 30% in the last six months has slowed down,” said the Minister of Development, adding that inflation is hovering around zero.

As for the ministry’s measures that played an important role in reducing prices, according to the minister it is the sixfold increase in fines and strict controls. In fact, the Minister of Development emphasized that the control mechanisms are not in the “best condition” and for this reason they need reinforcement.

For political developments, Mr. Theodorikakos estimated that if K. Mitsotakis would “face a serious problem with SYRIZA and due to the measures for the stability of the country, the opposition party is breaking up into 5-6 pieces”.
