According to Mr. Korkidis, “At first glance, the purchasing behavior of consumers on Black Friday confirmed the increased interest. Although 1 in 10 Greeks believe that there are no longer great deals on prices, as in the past, at least 8 in 10 believe that Black Friday is a good opportunity for bargain shopping. In fact, many are willing to use their credit card in order not to miss the Black Friday opportunities. The main motivation that leads 5 out of 10 Greeks to shop during Black Friday, is discounts on branded products that they usually don’t buy because they are too expensive.

Here’s the motivation for 4 out of 10 of those buying products they usually buy during the year, but at lower prices. 2 in 10 take advantage of Black Friday to buy Christmas presents and 1 in 10 to stock up on cheaper everyday essentials, while 1 in 5 use Black Friday to treat themselves to a small, inexpensive treat ».

Online shopping or in-store shopping?

Regarding the dilemma of online shopping or shopping in a store – as Mr. Korkidis – “Greek consumers for Black Friday & Cyber Monday are dividedsince more than 4 out of 10 shop online and 5 out of 10 in physical stores with the main reasons being the immediate receipt of the product, but also so that they don’t have to worry about returns”.

Cybercrime enforcement agencies are of course keeping a close eye on malicious activity to curb fraudulent purchases and protect consumers from being scammed and losing their money. The safest thing for consumers and what is required for traders, regardless of the way everyone wants to do their shopping, is to choose Greek e-shops and local physical stores” emphasized Mr. Korkidis and stated that the purchasing movement in the Greek market is estimated to “exceed last year’s levels of around 3 million above the levels of 3% inflation. of sales with an average receipt close to 100 euros and a total turnover at the level of 300 million. euro”.
