The reduction between 2023 and 2024 is two and a half times smaller than the one presented, says the responsible PASOK sector leader
In his announcement, Frangiskos Parasiris, responsible for the Parliamentary Energy Sector of PASOK-Movement for Change, states:
“Another month with high electricity prices, which is treated with the well-known method of the subsidy policy. A habit that became second nature, as the policy that the government blasted as official opposition, comes and implements it today.
In a peculiar ‘carousel’, consumer and taxpayer money is returned, through the Energy Transition Fund, as electricity subsidies to tackle high prices.
The competent Ministry prefers to subsidize each household with 7.5 euros, instead of taking care to take the appropriate measures, in order to deal structurally with the problems of the electricity market.
Finally, we would suggest to the Ministry to base the comparisons regarding the evolution of the cost of tariffs on Eurostat data, which is available to everyone. Because communication tricks are nice, but the truth is even nicer.
As can be seen from the Table below, which has been taken from the official website of the European Statistical Service, the reduction between 2023 and 2024 is two and a half times smaller than that presented and is only 6%, and not 15%, as presented yesterday by the government.
A reduction that has in any case been dissipated by the accuracy that continues to affect Greek households.
