Tomorrow, at 18:00, Nikos Hardalias will press the button for the illumination of the Christmas Village, with a unique lightshow
Only a few hours left for the illumination of the beautiful Christmas Village created by the Region of Attica in the Areos Field and everything is ready for the start of the magical Christmas celebration.
Tomorrow, Sunday, December 8, thousands of lanterns will light up the largest public park in the heart of Athens, which has put on its festive colors, while until January 7, those who find themselves in the Field of Ares can participate in a multitude of activities and enjoy a rich artistic program for all tastes.
Tomorrow, at 18:00, the regional governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, will press the button for the illumination of the Christmas Village, with a unique lightshow that promises to steal impressions. Eleni Foureira and Giorgos Perris will be on stage, with a special festive repertoire, hosted by Themis Georgantas. And the magic of Christmas will travel to the… Attic sky, as the Region has planned a special drone show with Christmas figures and festive content. A truly unique spectacle – with the help of technology – that will make the Attic sky shine with unique… “paintings”.
At the same time, for one month, young and old will be able to enjoy daily surprises, in every corner of the Park, starting from the “waterfall – dancer”, Santa Claus’ house, the house of Elves and Robotics to the huge carousels and the state-of-the-art ice rink. Also, interactive games have been designed for all ages, educational activities and ecological awareness routes, a large tasting corner, as well as forty wooden houses, in which the visitor will be able to buy handmade creations, gift items and Christmas decorations. And all this in a completely upgraded aesthetic and functional – and above all safe – environment for the whole family.
The change of time will be just as bright, as Christos Mastoras and the “Bees”, with their favorite songs, will count down on stage to 2025 to wish everyone a “Happy New Year” together at the big outdoor party of the Attica Region , with Themis Georgantas once again presenting the spectacular event. They will be joined by Zaf and ONEMANSHOW and the party will continue with music from MAD RADIO 106.2.
It is noted that the participation of the “Melisses” group is done on a non-profit basis, with their remuneration being donated to the Region’s structures for the needs of vulnerable groups.
Favorite artists will be every night both on the main music stage and on the two smaller ones, in a rich artistic program for young and old.
In the Christmas Village you will also find bands, street artists, saxophonists, dance groups and youth bands, with a rich repertoire. On Christmas, New Year’s and Epiphany days, visitors will be able to enjoy festive music and favorite tunes from the Band of the Armed Forces, while the artistic program for the young visitors of the village is also rich. On December 24th, Tasos Ioannidis, creator of the songs “Lahana ki Hahana” and the children’s theater performances of the same name, will be in the Christmas Village, to take the children on a journey through the musical universe of “Lahanohahanahora”. There will also be elves, lead soldiers and… Lapps, while on December 28 a modern children’s opera by Thodoris Lembesis will be presented.
In addition to all this, six unique thematic concerts with the participation of well-known artists have also been planned.
- Concert-tribute to the timeless successes of Mimi Plessas, on December 13.
- Concert-dedication to the songs of old and modern Greek cinema, on December 15.
- Concert-dedication to the urban song of the interwar period, on December 22.
- Concert-tribute to the songs inspired by childhood innocence by M. Loizou, G. Hatzipieri, N. Kypourgou, L. Plato, M. Theodoraki, M. Toka, G. Spanou, on December 29.
- Concert-tribute to the unforgettable Dimitris Mitropanos, on December 30.
- Concert-tribute to the three great ladies of Greek song S. Bellou, P. Panou and B. Moscholiou, on January 4.
It should be noted that for the operation of the Christmas Village of the Attica Region in the Field of Areos, all the necessary works have been completed for the full lighting of the park and the strengthening of its 24-hour security. Appropriate interventions have also been made so that it is fully accessible in all its areas by People with Disabilities and people with mobility problems.
The main sponsor of the Christmas Village is Protergia, sponsors are COSMOTE and EYDAP, and communication sponsor is MAD, which has also undertaken the artistic program.
The opening hours of the Village are on weekdays from 16:30 to 22:00 and on the weekend from 10:00 to 22:00.
