The two new PV plants are part of the wider agreement with Metlen Energy & Metals for RES projects in four countries in South East Europe
The opening of two new ones photovoltaic stations of total installed capacity 32 MW in Italy PPC Group announced, noting that the development marks its entry into the Italian Renewable Energy Sources (RE) market.
It’s about the stations Carcarello and Luxenia in central Italy, with an installed capacity of 20 MW and 12 MW, respectively. More than 55,000 double-sided photovoltaic panels were used for the construction of the new photovoltaic stations, which is being completed within the next few days. The estimated annual energy production of the two plants is expected to exceed 60 GWh, a quantity capable of covering the energy needs of almost 15,000 households. The operation of the two parks will prevent the emission of approximately 37,200 tons of CO2.
The deputy managing director of RES Group PPC, Konstantinos Mavrosstated that “the entry of the PPC Group into the Italian energy market demonstrates, in the most emphatic way, the Group strategy to be dominant energy pillar in its wider area Southeast Europe. The two photovoltaic plants that are starting to operate are just the beginning. The company’s strategic plan envisages continuous project deliveries until 2027. We are continuously strengthening our green portfolio, with geographical and technological dispersion, to maximize the benefits of the green transition and the interconnected energy market.”
The two new photovoltaic plants are part of the wider agreement with the Metlen Energy & Metals for RES projects in four countries of Southeast Europe.
According to PPC’s three-year strategic plan, until 2027 PPC Group will develop an additional 6.3 GW of RES in Greece and the wider region of South-Eastern Europe, with the aim of the installed capacity from RES to reach 11.8 GW in 2027. Already, today, over 60% of RES projects to be added are under construction or ready for construction. The two new solar parks in Italy are part of this plan.
PPC Group’s strategic plan includes entering new markets such as Italyh Bulgaria and the Croatiani.e. neighboring countries with existing connections. Italy and Croatia, in particular, are particularly important markets due to their interconnection capabilities and significant potential in the renewable energy sector.
