It is noteworthy that 84.4% of online shopping is made through Greek e-shops according to a survey presented on Wednesday
Impressive maturity and constantly evolving dynamic is the market for e -commerce in Greece. The latest survey of the Hellenic E -Commerce Association (Gr.ec.A.) reveals the strong increase in e -commerce, with consumers demonstrating more and more confidence in online markets.
According to the survey, presented on Wednesday, 74% of Greeks now buy products and services online. It is noteworthy that 84.4% of online shopping is made through Greek e-shops, with Greek consumers preferring the products and services offered by local suppliers.
1/3 of mature e-shoppers spending between € 250- € 500 per year on online purchases
The Greek market also has a strong interest in markets through prices comparison and marketplaces (48.3%). This shows consumers’ preference to find the best possible product at the best possible prices, through reliable and secure websites.
Mature buyers
Research reveals that there is a significant difference between the “general population” and the so -called “mature users”. Mature consumers, who have more experience in e -commerce, spend 80% more money than new users. For example, 1/3 of mature buyers spends from € 250 to € 500 per month for online products and services.
According to the data, 7 out of 10 mature buyers are now making more than 25 purchases a year. These mature buyers recognize the real values of online markets, such as time saving and easy access to products, which are not readily available in local trade.
One of the most important findings of research is the importance of trusting an online store. About 55% of consumers said they would not buy from a store unless it meets the confidence criteria, even if it had lower prices. The existence of a call center, the reputation and credibility of the store, the safe payment gateway and the possibility of returning products are the most important criteria that determine the purchase decision.
Payments and delivery
According to the survey, consumers prefer the debit card for their purchases, followed by cash and credit card. In terms of delivery process, the majority of consumers prefer to pick up their products at home via courier (78.7%), while receiving from Lockers (51.8%) is constantly gaining ground.
In the meantime, social media seems to play an important role in the discovery of new products and brands, with 48.8% of consumers declaring that they often find products that interest them on social media. Despite the strong influence of social networks, there are reservations about market safety through these channels, with 62% of consumers not being completely confident in the safety of transactions.
