The Civil Police of Mato Grosso is investigating the theft of 490 tons of fertilizers from farms in the region. The estimated loss is approximately R$ 1.2 million.
The operation, launched last Thursday (24) under the name of “Piratas do Agro”, temporarily arrested four members of a gang. Now, the police are investigating the fate of the products.
The investigation covers at least five cargo thefts on rural properties in the municipalities of Sorriso, Brasnorte, Santa Rita do Trivelato and São José do Rio Claro, which took place between September and January.
Trucks used in the crimes, weapons and explosive material were seized. According to the police, the idea is to ask the Judiciary to auction the goods and values ​​collected to compensate the victims.
